Principles and objectives for education and research

“Biology” and “Chemistry” are fundamental fields that are critical to solving contemporary problems of foodstuffs, energy, the environment and medicine and realizing a society that can continually develop. In recent years, it has become impossible to consider living phenomena and biological functions without consideration at the atomic and molecular levels. Consideration for life and the environment is also indispensable when handling chemicals. Against this backdrop, the need is increasing rapidly for both experts in biology with a fundamental understanding of chemistry, and experts in chemistry with a fundamental understanding of biology.

Graduation Policy

Students learn the fundamentals of biology and chemistry.

From the second-year forward, students select either the Biology Course or Chemistry Course, and obtain advanced specialized knowledge and techniques by enrolling in the lectures and experiments of each course.

Fourth year students join a laboratory in either the Biology Course or Chemistry Course to obtain further advanced specialized knowledge and techniques.

 

Admissions Policy

People with a passionate desire to learn about biology, chemistry and their interdisciplinary fields, and who aim to work in these fields in the future

People who can patiently engage in deep study and consider natural phenomena empirically and theoretically

People proactive about learning, with the drive to take on new fields of learning
