Specializations Technologies of Wireless Network Construction and Systematic Understanding of Biological Systems
Research Interests Prof. Matsuno has two majors, computer networks and systems biology. (1) He is now developing a wireless communication system for relief activities in a disaster area under the collaborations with other universities, the prefectural institute, and some IT-companies. This system enables quick and accurate exchange of evacuee information in shelters at a damaged area, helping the relief activities of firefighters and officers working for the recovery of the distressed area. (2) He developed a new computational method to simulate gene networks using a Petri net technique, which allows biologists to obtain suggestive insights into the cell system of their interests. This technique is now spread over the world, many kinds of biological systems have been modeled and simulated with this technique.
